Coronavirus and the immigration rules
On 29 April Latin American House organised a webinar on Coronavirus and the UK immigration rules. Here is the webinar that I presented in Spanish:
Among the most important points are:
- Visa applications can continue to be made from outside the UK but applicants cannot attend to Visa Centres to leave their documents and give their biometric information because the centres are closed.
- If your visa in the UK expires between January 24 and May 30 and you cannot return to your country due to travel restrictions or self-isolation, you can request an extension on your visa until May 31 by completing this form:
- Applications for “long-term” visas that normally have to be made from the country of residence can now be made from the UK.
- Europeans and relatives with biometric cards can continue registering under the EU Settlement Scheme using the EU Exit: ID document Check app. Conversely, relatives of Europeans who do not have biometric cards cannot send registration applications at this time.
I invite you to watch the webinar and follow this section for more changes in immigration.
